This young and active family have outgrown their current home, but don’t want to move as they love where they live. Altering and adding to their existing house made sense.
They understand that the climate in the Dandenong Ranges can be extreme and wanted a home that didn’t need to rely heavily on mechanical heating and cooling. Having done their research, they understood the benefits of SIPs to provide a more even temperature, particularly during the long, cold winters.
A quick construction timeline is also important to this family with young children, to ensure that the disruption to their lives is minimal. Using structural panels for the external walls and roof, will save their construction timeline weeks on a conventional build, and will ensure their addition is weather tight prior to the Christmas break.
